The SIA seem to make it up as they go, I waited 6 months for my renewed badge to come through!!! When i spoke to the helpline the operator stated that the scan machine that scans the CRB's into the computer was broken, i called back 2 weeks later and got the same excuse, i told her to go and buy a new scanner and she put the phone down on me so i decided to complain.
So who regulates the SIA? the answer is the SIA...
The SIA is government backed but should still have an independant complaints procedure and or body, the police have the Police Complaints Commission, Solicitors are controlled by the Law Commission, then you have all the OFCOM, OFWAT, FIMBRA etc etc... every structure has a recourse for complaints EXCEPT THE SIA.
I called the Home Office to complain about the SIA and was put through to the SIA department within the Home Office...So i gave the details and was promised a call back, that was 2 months ago and no call back..
Have heard of so many people threatening court action but nothing has ever come of it.. it would be a big financial burden for someone to attempt, i would say the European Courts of Human Rights would be the way to go if anyone wants the challenge!!!
