ok some of you know me and some of you don't but all i ask is a minute of your time to read this.........
8 weeks ago my best friends son, a boy i have known since he was 3, was a healthy 17 year old, then he became ill and was admitted to the RVI in Newcastle where it was discovered that he had Birketts lymphoma, he has in the last week or so been told that it is incurable and been sent home to die.
Remember please that this is only a 17 year old boy, who until recently wanted to learn to drive and had the world at his feet, who now will die in the next few weeks. He comes from just a normal family with parents who give far more than they take, and with a sister who adores him.
Threre isn't anything special about them to people who don't know them, just to those of us who do know them and love them. Liam's last dying wish is to be buried in his Liverpool football shirt, and sadly was too ill to make the trip to the match earlier this week where he was invited to meet players and the manager. They have however sent him some gifts that he longed for4, a signed shirt!! Thats it, thats what he wanted. n He lives and breathes Liverpool football club and the fans have got behind him, as some of you may have seen if you watched the game earlier this week.
I had already been swayed into doing the race for life by my 6 year old daughter who wants to help people with cancer like her great grandfather who is also suffering from cancer. I could not refuse her that, despite the fact i wont even run for a bus!
Liams father used to be a doorman for many years and is indeed one of us, and he would never ask for help so i am doing it on his behalf.
I am taking part in the race for life and would appreciate the sponsorship for my daughter and i for this worthy cause, Liams father is also doing a charity walk in september in memory of liam and to raise money for teenage cancer charity.
I would be very grateful for any donation to either charity and i thank you in advance.
