I think the reasoning behind the idea makes sence. Agreed with the commerciality side of things and not shouting about your ideas too much; there are ways around that though, IP is one of them.

There are a number of sites on the net offering similar service to other ereas of the security industry, and with some sucess; this is one Security Vacancies, UK Jobs in Security

But will such a database be fully utilised safely and trusted on both sides (by contractors and employers alkie)? Many guys within the industry at home and away are rightly protective of their details and cautious about how their details are disseminated. Worth a think.

The idea of a database is a very sound one - but how it could bepulled off or made to work is a big question. If the industry had one legal overseeing governing body (like the SIA could be but isn't) then it would be a logical resource for them to manage; but with the SIA just being t****rs and other orgs like the BBA, IACPO being two a penny and not really governing bodies etc etc etc, where do you start?

Don't give up on it; do what you can to protect your idea (solicitor will help) then have a real think, starting with all the weak points and build up an answer or solution to each problem before you run with the idea.
