Your employability depends what comms systems you have experience with.
But rather than stick to looking at Dyncorp or other American firms I would advise looking at all of the big players, Armorgroup, Aegis etc. Also look at
Job Vacancies in United Nations and International Organizations for NGO and UN- I know for a fact that the UN were/ are looking for comms techs. I would also look for other companies that require communications, KBR for instance. Being in Canada have you tried domestic jobs, quite often comms guys get well paid in govt jobs.
Too often people think security and immediately want to go for the whole frontline guns and risk roles, but take for instance Iraq- all the companies engaged on work there have ops rooms and HQs, with the same needs as the military did. I would suggest approach the companies engaged in Iraq- there is a list of security firms on this website, but I can't remember the exact post name, search for names list now free or something like it- and explain you are interested in a support job.
