Dear All,
I think it is important to appreciate the full reasoning behind the decision to the attendance of an Advanced Driving Course prior to selecting a suitable company. As we are all discussing the matter on a CP forum it is probably a correct assumption in determining that the course is for the CP role for employment purposes.
It is without doubt a fact that the UK Police Advanced Driving course is the premium driving course, probably in the world. It is recognised to the extent that all specialist police tactical and surveilance units attend, members of Box/ SIS, SRR etc. It makes sense then that if you want to improve your driving standard and observation then attendance of a course instructed by ex-police driving instructors makes a great deal of sense. An Advanced Driving course on its own, however, is not good enough for the CP role and therefore the course should include anti-surveillance, anti-ambush and CP convoy driving drills and procedures.
Driving within the CP environment is an extrememly important issue and I am pleased to see that individuals on this forum take the issue seriously, (even though the SIA hasn't), enough to part with their own hard earned cash. We should all recognise the importance and alignment of surveillance with close protection and a driving course which encompasses an overall concern of surveillance and security driving whilst using the police system of car control is one that should and foremost be advised.
Regards,
Rich H
