Since we're talking about the SIA thought you all might like to hear some relevant information about Northern Ireland and Licencing and regulation. As far as I know the SIA govern security practices, regulating the security sector in England Scotland and Wales but not Northern Ireland, why ? I hear you say. Well in Northern Ireland we had the peace process founded on the principles of the Good Friday Aggreement, and what a little error in relation to security matters that has turned out to be. Under the Good Friday Aggreement you cannot discriminate against anybody because of their past either criminal activities or political murder, *censored**censored**censored**censored* pillage or whatever you would like to call it. Technically you could have someone who has murdered, robbed banks, tortured, and I do mean mass murder!!!! standing doing door supervision work, cash in transit, and bodyguarding, which makes it ironic if he is a convicted murderer, but the cherry on the cake is if an employer does discriminate against him the employer is liable in a court of law to pay compension to the said criminal for discriminating against him. So for the forseeable future I cant see the SIA venturing into Northern Ireland which is a pity because now a huge percentage of the security companies in the country are present or past paramilitaries extorting money in another way. hope this article wasnt too long winded or political.
