An answer to your question:

I see no reason to remove the thread. Firstly it was advising people of an event which has spawned intelligent debate (as well as the odd flaming but that is human nature). If everything that offends our fragile sensibilities is censored we regress from the freedom of speech that is the bastion of British society.

It takes no intellect to be outraged, but does to discuss a point and show a different view in perspective from a professional stand point. After all we are professionals as well as supposedly having skills in conflict management. If you look at the facts, it is an Internet forum and someone has expressed an opinion which some may or may not agree with. To become outraged on something that is to all intensive purposes trivial seems out of balance. Deleting the thread is not going to stop an event happening where as intelligent debate and showing an industry view point may in fact have more weight than you can see from a haze of red.

After all if this kind of thing inflames a person then what is their reaction to something real and confrontational? Something you may like to think about. We can all be "Mr Angry of Mayfair" but it takes something more to discuss the reasoning for your displeasure.
