I did my course with CTR in 2006, there were no fittness tests when i did my course, but you will need a basic level of fittness as part of the course is self defence and if your grossly unfiit then you will be hanging out after 5 minutes!
The trainers are all good lads when i was there, but i do not know if there are any new staff on board. I would say it is a good course and in depth but cannot compare with other courses as i have no first hand experience of them.
