I have been searching for 5 weeks now for Close Protection work in Mexico (mainly Acapulco) but am yet to find anything. I am will be off to Mexico in 1 week in the hope to find work there.
Does anybody know of any work out there or of any companies that operate in that area? Cheers guys. |

I repliedto a thread very similar to this a week ago,be very careful of security companies in Mexico. Most but not all are tied to the drug cartels, If you do find a decent company please share it with the forum.
I ahve worked in Mexico on a couple of occassions but for a USA company who I know do not operate there any more due to there moral standing of not paying backhanders to the local authorities. fbg |

Mexico is a Extremely Dangerously place to work as a Close Protection specialist. Most teams that work in Mexico are very close, it’s not that simple to walk in and join a team that’s already operating. My advice to you, if you do not speak Spanish it is extremely important that you learn. The second thing I would strongly recommend is to get extensive medical training I would recommend the following CRP, and a Advanced First Aid class. Another important aspect to remember is firearms. You have to adhere to the laws of Mexico. If you are not a Mexican Citizen it is important that you get the correct licensees to carry a fire arm in the country. The last thing I would recommend is have an attorney on retainer in the event you get into trouble, it is important that you have someone who can start working on your behalf. Hope this information helps.

Here is a link to an interesting article I picked up a while back.
Keep in mind that it is dated from 2007. None the less an interesting post. Close Protection Versus Crime In Mexico | Bodyguard Careers - Bodyguards and Executive Protection US, California based companies would be a great place to start, as they would probably have extensive experience with the region. Here is a link to DCI. Not sure if they are still operational in Mexico. Someone else may know more about these guys. http://www.dci-inc.org/executive_per...protection.htm Citadel is a California based company. I am sure they have a Mexico Branch, may be worth contacting for information. http://www.citadelsandiego.com/ Once you make 5 posts I will send you a PM with details of a company that I know has an upcoming contract in Mexico as well.
