Hello:

I am conducting research for a master's level research paper on anti-piracy/maritime terrorism and I would like to be able to interview someone via email.

I know that there are a number of UK companies out there involved in counter-piracy off the horn of Africa. I was hoping one of you might be available for an email interview over the few days/week.

If anyone has significant and up to date experience on countering maritime terrorism/piracy and would be available, please let me know.

Hi mate,

I've been up and down the Malacca Straits on quite a few occasions escorting vulnerable shipping. Also worked offshore in Nigeria last year. Feel free to give me a shout if you think I could assist. You could also try security-maritime at yahoo groups.

hi there steve just seen your reply for that type of work ship security and escorting did you attened any courses as its somethink i wouldnt mind getting into leave the pit for a bit of sea life.Any advice woujld be great a list of companies to

Hi Ray,

Check out the thread on Maritime training. If you are UK based then give IMSA a shout, they will give you good advice. With regards to getting the work, same as CP/PSD mate, network, network, network.

Sorry, me being stupid; I meant who/what is the IMSA. Maritime side is very new to me, but holds interests.

Securewest International based in Kingsbridge Devon are always looking for good operators. i have spent time in (umm quasar) Iraq, Kuwiat, Dubia, Sommalia, Egypt, Europe, South and West Africa if you are flexible and willing to go at short notice they are definately the ones, pay not wonderful but the ships you live on are comfortable, Good luck. I am off on monday for two months Red Sea and Gulf of Aden home for 2 weeks then East coast of africa for two months. Most positions are armed mostky winchester shotguns AK47 and M15
