Hi,

Is any of you completely up to date with srv on a minor?
To go short the clients are the parents and they want a tracker placed on a minor to allow freedom of movement, if the threat is high enough to decide pro tracking and against personal protection I wonder how things stand for the minor eg. common law, data protection act and neglect, as well as how would it change if the minor turns 12 and what would have to happen to the previously collected data then?

Any thoughts and facts on, or experience with this welcome at this stage. It seems a waspsnest to me, but a good learning curve at the same time ;-)

Many thanks,

S

Interesting points raised. It is not clear from the information provided if the minor is aware of the tracker ? Also I'm not sure where the 12 year old bit comes in to play - in the UK parental repsonsibility extends to 16, I know practically it is different with a 16 year old ! Instead of a tracker what about a parent provided mobile phone, paid for by the parents, the property of the parents and fitted with tracking software ? A truculent kid could possible ditch a tracker if they found it but what self respecting kid would ditch a new phone with credit on it ? Just a thought

Microchip aids in kidnap fight

A Mexican security firm has developed a microchip that allows satellites to help locate kidnap victims. Sales of the chip which is implanted under the skin have increased by 13% in the past year, as kidnap rates soar in Mexico. Duncan Kennedy reports.

BBC NEWS | Americas | Microchip aids in kidnap fight

This article describes the item I'm interested in and also I'm still interested in any info in regards to law/legislations in the UK/Europe, only for the trackers placed on the person, not on a personal item. Anyone?

We have an adapted and working asthma inhaler exactly the same theory.
The parent owned mobile phone is a common one for the 'tempremental' teenager. There is a company that has the whole geo-fencing and child tracking area boxed off well above what is openly available. PM if I can help

Have a look here B24:
http://www.spysite.com/catalog/GPS-V...p-1-c-475.html

You can easily google it and compare prices and contracts etc from different sites, but this gives you a global idea...

I for my request like to once more state that I'm interested in the TRACKING OF PERSONS, not personal items, and law/legislations in regards the matter in the UK and the rest of Europe... (as example see the item above, from the BBC article about tracking of persons in Mexico).

Anyone??
