Week 1: Medical
The week started with a presentation by Timm Smith. In one simple exercise he highlighted the massive shortfalls with the current standard for the S.I.A. (FAAW). I was left shocked at the fact that in the relatively normal scenario he put me in I was completely powerless to render any assistance to the casualty due to a lack of knowledge and skill. Day 1: Arrival
On arrival in Cape Town we were met by Ronin staff for the short journey to the course location. There are 15 students on the course, mainly Brits but also an American, Canadian, Dutchman, Aussie, Irishman and a South African. We have one female on the course, on resettlement from the Royal Navy. The backgrounds are predominantly military however there are 4 students with entirely civilian backgrounds.

Here are a couple of points which anyone applying for the Ronin course may find helpful, I neglected to mention them in my first entry.
Innoculations: You MUST have Hepititis B jabs, it is a requirement for the course. Be aware that it is usually a course of three injections over 10 weeks. Don't leave it too late. Also T.B. most Brits will have been immunised at school, it's the one that usually leaves a scar. If in doubt check with your Doctor, you must have a Doctors letter or innoculation...

Right, here goes:
I have been harping on about getting people to review courses they have been on for some time. I am going to do it myself and see if it catches on!
Pre-Course admin

After initial contact with the UK office I was sent an information pack. It is detailed and specific about what the course entails and what is expected of the student. The DVD is a little dated and didn't really do a lot for me. That said, it does give an insight into the accommodation and surroundings....
