Longmoor Group

Posted 27-12-2008 at 11:24 AM by evolian71

To all users: be careful if you choose a CP Training with these cowboys.

They will dry your pockets out with a Mickey Mouse training, get your money and run as fast as they can: no help, no support, no nothing. After training you won't hear from them again, despite promises that "they will be available 24/7"..This until they get their hands on your money! Then, bye bye!

Overall, their training is shit and laughable at most.

Go for Ronin, Control Risk or PSD instead...they are true professionals.

Be advised...

    Evolian71,

you are the first person i listen to that has expressed so disappointing, averting and disgusting comments on longmoor group.

I ever though they were one of the most reputable company in this sector. I was also planning to attend one of their courses this year!!

Why did you have a so big dislike?

Is it possible for you to provide some insight into why you have launched into one about Longmoor? I have never been there myself however I have seen many recommendations to them on this web site. So to see this is quite a surprise.

Please provide some more insight into why you are saying this.

    Many Thanks

Yes, I have done the course, whilst another couple of friends did one the Ronin and the other one Control Risk.
We have then compared, at the end, the topics toughts, the support received after training, carrer suggestions, contact list etc...

Longmoor has a ridicule defensive/offensive driving training (you will have to drive in the countryside for 2 hours doing and learning nothing). The equipment their are using is probably from 2nd hand Portobello road, the organisation is crap: you think you pay for 4 weeks, but during week-ends you have to find your own hotel as they don't book rooms to save money (but they don't say so when you pay for the course). Plus, the "training place" is a pub in the middle of a village where you feel stupid doing exercises in the middle of people drinking Pimms and laughing at you...
When the course is finished, the usual " call us, we are here for you 24/7 etc.etc.
Try to e-mail them: no reply. Try to send them your cv for comments: no reply.

The contact list was including 95% wrong addresses or companies that are not trading any longer or have changed name. No new list has ever been sent.

Once they grab your money, these cowboys, you won't see them again, trust me.

Very different what happened to my 2 friends from Ronin and Control Risk: eccellent training, even better post-training support, useful contacts.

I have heard the same things regarding PSD.

Then, money and life are both yours..I was just trying to be useful to fellow collegaues, to prevent them to go through the same shit I have been with Longmoor.

If all the things you are telling us are true ( and I'm not saying they aren't) thank you very much for your suggestions and comments! I would like if possibly a member of the Longmoor Group, reading this blog, publicly posts a comment and maybe his point of view on Evolian's statements

    Thank you

I found this blog quite interesting and hope that someone from Longmoor or at least a few former students respond. I did some research on the internet and found this:

Longmoor has a wealth of experience in delivering specialist training to both military and civilian personnel worldwide. With an ethos of using only the finest personnel from the British Military or UK Police, Longmoor Training are ideally positioned to offer the most practical and comprehensive solutions to your training needs.

With a statment like that from Longmoor I am not discrediting your blog at all. It's just a shock to me that you got this level of training. Again I have never been there I have just read the great comments previously posted.

I am interested to see what there response would be.

    Longmoor Group

Thought i would post here seems a very abusive outburst at what i thought was a very well run and organized course???

Whats your main grudge here ??? i found Longmoor to be extremely proffessional in both content and instructional ability food first class accomodation first class in fact a package that has a lot of pleased ex- students.

Remember !!finish your course its not up to Longmoor to get you work you do that by marketing yourself and keeping plugging away evn when youre not getting any responses!!!

Evolian, When did you attend your course?. I recently attended and all i can say is my experience was far different to yours. Were you promised work and never got it? or is that just what you thought would happen.

Not sure what your gripe is with the, Longmoor Group buddy. From what im reading it seems to be the fact you did not get a job? forgive me if I'm wrong. I completed the course not too long ago and i certainly never had to find my own weekend accommodation, and neither did i or my colleagues practise drills in a pub.
In fact to sum my course up, after 12 years in the British Army the blokes at, Longmorr Group gave me exactly what i needed to crack on with my chosen path. From the drills on the ground to the Tac Firearms package (Unlimited Ammo) for which was the best i have attended. You seem to stress the after course service, for which i will tell you a little about mine also. I completed my course, inside of one week after getting back i was tabbing around the streets of, London with a pal i met on the course. We went to a great deal of offices trying to get some face time, at the end of the day the directors at Longmoor Group hooked up with the two of us for around about 7hours outside there meetings etc. To give advice and support, contacts etc etc. More to the point the pair of us scored a job with, Longmoor Group.

Now i maybe reading into your post wrong, and we may of attended different courses, but i cant relate to a single thing on your post. Im sure most half decent blokes on this forum will agree with me, you don't get nothing for sitting around on your "Ass".

This is not a personal dig at you, Evolain71s im just simply outlining what i got from, Longmoor Group as you have opened the can and want feedback, and you just got mine above. Great course, loads of post course assistance, Oh a pair of jobs scored outside the UK for me and my pal.

    Happy New Year

    Dear Evolian 71

I am sorry that you have not had a good experience with Longmoor Group, it is certainly not our intention to have unhappy customers. Having said that we can not be all things to all men and in almost 4 years of running these courses (over 250 people) this is the second complaint we have had, and on reflection something we are proud of.

The other complaint was about the food at the venue, not enough vegetarian selections on the menu.

Yes, our courses are run from a pub in a remote village, which all of the comments we have recieved have been first rate (see our testimonials). As for the driving package this is a 2 day course with a 3:1 instructor student ratio, all instructors are ex Police class 1 trained or higher. The driving phase is designed to improve peoples driving standards within their own abilities. Some students have even requested not to drive because their initial standard was so poor. The driver training is run in the countryside and for good reason, to make it real. If you have a sugestion to run it elsewhere and thus improve the course we would be delighted for your comments.

As a company we never guarantee work to anyone. We always try to give the first offer of work to ex students. We dont pander to people, you will be given a few goes to perform and get at the right place at the right time, if you cant, dont expect too many job offers! As DPB said above it is all about the individual to look for work.

With regard to equipment. All of the equipment is hired in and is tested prior to issue. Of course things do brake, radios are radios!

We offer an open door policy that if anyone requires assistance pre or post a course, then we are delighted to help. Elovian I would be delighted to discuss your issues with you in more detail, that way you can be a part of making the course better for others. Please feel free to call in and see us.

With regard to the other companies out there, of course there are many and some are very good. I urge people to fully research your training providers before spending your cash and please be carefull of the SIA website, because 95% of the addresses are wrong.

As for cowboys! Please be aware that our course has been designed around the Police and Longmoor Military CP Courses. Longmoor have been looking after diplomats and royalty in hostile environments since the early 80s. The skills and drills lernt from these establishments and those taught by us are worlds apart from what Clint Eastwood may use!!

Please feel free to contact us.

I've attended Longmoor's course in Aug/Sept and my opinion is:
    - if I had any issues, or didn't like something, or wanted more of something, or needed something extra, I was going and talking to the guys and it was always taken care of untill it was meeting my requirements.
    - regarding support consider that the guys who run the course actually work so they can't probably answer all of your calls in the same minute, but from my experience both Mick and Chris show the interest [even thou I didn't contact them myself as I'm still battling SIA for my licence] they urged me to: "send them my CV the minute I will get my licence".
    - you may or may not like accomodation or food but you really cant challenge the knowledge they have and transfer on us, I personally made over 60 pages of notes during just first few days of theory before we started practical exercises.
    - radios? please get the job and you will see what equipment you will get then, it was standard motorollas you get in most of workplaces and if you didn't like earpieces you could brought over your own like I did.
    - driving well again it's as much as you can and want to take from the course, if you wanted stunt driving course you probably should have taken other provider.
    - firearms tactical course was amazing, we had 2 instructors for just 5 of us with the support of local military in the person of Mirko, we trained since morning till the evening all days no ammo limit, doing no target practice shooting but complex exercises for IBs but also full team VIP+BG+4PES ambush extractions, reall guns real ammo, real firing drills for whole team, not some airsoft or paintball exercises provided by other companies
    - The most important thing for me however was that no question was left without answer based in those guys practical experience.

    - we were in trully international band, [polish, cypriot, and 3 english guys] down there and everybody was happy dispite our entirely different backgrounds.

Sorry to hear that you are displeased with Longmoor course but as long as there always is a crave for more of this or that, the course as a whole was undeniably great.

I did the April/May course and unless there is another Longmoor Group, find your comments to be complete Bull.

I found them to be completely professional and bloody good guys to be honest.

I had a ball and learned a shit load.

The course as a whole was well designed, thought out and extremely well presented.

There are loads of good course providers out there and Longmoor are one of the best.

I did the Longmoor course last year, and to be honest it didn't get me work as all employers want experience.

Don't get me wrong as it is a very good course, but it's the old story. No experience no work.

I eventually got a break and am in Iraq at present.

I would recommend Ronin SA if you can afford it and have the time.

It would be the most recognised course going and you would have a very good chance of picking up work.

    All the best
