I see no one is geting into CIT forum.
OK where shall we begin.... I know CIT may not appear as glamorous as CP and other aspects of"security", but I think you guys should hold your heads up high and have a say. Lets face it.... where else outside of a hostile enviroment can you go out and get a gun stuck up your nose? Lets face it, you're unarmed and some smacked up a***hole tries to slot you with a shooter one of the big boys gave him down the local crack house. I've seen the trend in attacks move on from a good beating with a baseball bat through to a chopping with a machette to more firearms offences, It always made me laugh when a bandit was tooled up with his machette and his balaclava..... wonder what the man in the army and navy shop was thinking when the "herbert" came in to buy them!! Come... join in!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Well, I have to say I worked in the CVIT business for 6 months to cover me for a bit and the job is not too bad. In the 6 months I worked there 3 crews got hit and in all instaces it was a threat of being smacked and a bit of verbal, quick and to the point.
After all three hits, the thing that changed on the routes? Nothing! Same routes, crews keeping to the same times and management putting on more and more pick ups or drop offs to be done. Nothing but downright dangerous. This is the bit I hated about the job. As I said the job isn't a bad one but a lot of the crews were under so much pressure I'm shocked that the nasty bastards didn't get away with more. The question in the staff room and on the routes was always, "what would you do?" my answer was easy and the same. Give it to them no matter what, it's not yours and it's insured. No chance of me getting taken out for £8 p/h! Only my thoughts though. By the way, does anyone know of any private companies looking for CVIT sia holders on an ad hoc basis? It cost me nothing so it's a shame to waste it! |

Good to hear from you.
Yes it was always a concern about not changing routes and times, I would change them as offten as I could but......... you hit the nail on the head.... too much work and not enough time..... not enough crews..... that's the commercial world for you, a bit difficult for the ex-mil guys to get their heads round (no disrespect as I'm ex-mil) The "what would you do" question.............. you'll only know at the time........... but my only advice would be DO SOMETHING...... cos if you don't then you're going to get a smack...... oh! and don't beg for mercy, saw it happen once, he got a bloody good smack. Remember these s**ts strated off as the playground bully and have moved up in the world (or so they see it) To all you people out there on "the pavement".... keep your eyes open and don't look at the pavement..... LOOK AROUND YOU take care people |

Well, I did cash in transit, gold etc for 7 years.
Regarding the routes, the approach where we worked was to have the same routes everytime due to trust in the electrical equipment. The central tracking with gps, and positioning themselfs..to track every meter of the transport. Yes the pavement risk is the worst scenario but robbers brings weapon to a robbery and the guard is not, the trust in the electronics is what its all about thease days. It dosent help much when you sitt inside a armored vehicle and the robbers put an explosive outside on the door demanding you out!!! often the robbers blow up the vehicle with the guards inside this hapends several times. A dear friend was robbed and aimed a AK in his face.. hawk |

Hi all, new to the site. I have been CVIT for one of the big boys for 3yrs now. Looking to move out of this into a different area of security. Just adding to the CVIT bit on here, which I see is a bit on the small side!!

Hello everyone
what a great forum, its good to see that crew from all over the country all have the same concerns about workloads, working hours, raids, trafic wardens and all that great stuff that makes this job such fun .......Bameris why not try for LOOMIS or G4S as they will pay for your sia licence. |
