I never post on the cash in transit forum but i see its quiet here I heard this story on the radio today so found a source online.

Firm unveils new security measures

A cash-in-transit company which lost 250,000 euro in armed robberies in recent weeks has revealed new measures to protect its staff and money.
Group 4 Securicor said a new scheme will mean no on-board staff will have access to cash within the vehicle during the ATM servicing operation. All notes will also be contained within dye-protected containers while crews are outside their vehicles.
Last week a shot was fired during a raid on a delivery van outside the Bayside Shopping Centre in north Dublin. Detectives are also probing a second raid on staff from the security company as they serviced an ATM on Howth Road, Clontarf on July 3.

As far as I know Securicor money boxes in Belfast have been dye protected boxes for about 10 years now, and the local criminals have developed a way of saving the cash when the box is opened and preventing themselves being covered in the dye.

Obviously this isn't the UK but if all ATM's were to only accept dye cartridges it would make the job so much easier and will require the procedures to be followed. The only problem is the company that only deals with dye cartridges, the surplus work will go to another company that will then use their normal procedures. The crooks will just follow the money.
