This might not be in the right place; appologies if not; Admin, feel free to move it if need be.

I am about to embark of a pretty mamouth expedition to raise money for SSAFA (soldiers Sailors Airmen & Families Association); the plan is to climb the 7 Summits, the highest mountain on each of the seven continents and reack both the north and south pole on foot.

It will take about 3 years to complete the whole lot, with small seasonal windows for most of the mountains.

I am working towards having corporate sponsorship as well as paying out of my own pocket for the expedition costs; and will be seaking private sponsorship for donations to the charities.

Anyone wanting more information, wanting to sponsor me or check out our shop selling books on bushcraft, survival and mountaineering can check out the website at About The Challenge | The Challenge

I hope that some of you will feel able to sponsor me, with a big portion of the funds raised going to support the good work that SSAFA do.

Many thanks, Chris

Respect Rupert...at first i thought you said you where going to climb the 3 peaks in the UK then when i actually paid attention and actually concentrated it said walk to the North/South Pole and climb each of the highest mountains on each continent!!

Excellent mate and for a very worthwhile cause as well Bravo.

Good luck.

PS Why dont you PM me a note outlining all the details and your request for sponsorship and
ill then forward it to all of our 2,008 memebers!!.

PPS Why dont you create your own website and we can create a link for you to your site direct from here??

Just a thought. If there is anything else we can do please do ask.

CM

Just an update about the expedition preperation;

I have been receiving some posative feedback from my tenders for corporate sponsorship, with confirmed sponsorship contracts signed with Boditronics and Buffwear - Multifunctional Headwear and a number of donated items to help raise funding from Rolex (sadly not a watch!), Sekonda (a watch!) and a number of small local businesses.

I am currently in long discussions with another Swiss watch manufacturer about the posibility of funding the whole challenge, so fingers crossed!!

The Challenge website is now coming together About The Challenge | The Challenge
as well as both an eBay and Amazon store. If you are a regular Amazon user, the expedition will receive 10% of your order value each time you make a purchase by logging into your Amazon account through the link on our website Shop page.
Our eBay shop sells a multitude of donated items mostly of a military/survival and outdoor nature as well as suplements from the Boditronics range. All the proceeds from donated items and all the profit from the Boditronics range goes directly to the challenge as all costs are paid by me.

More information on the challenge and the charities involved can be found on the challenge website.

Thank you, Chris

Latest heads-up on this.

Unfortunately the deal I had "in place" with said watch company above has fallen through; two brands owned by the same company had all but agreed to jointly fund the first leg which is the North Pole section to take place early next year. With the economy as it is the parent company has cut (eliminated) their charitable donations/sponsoring budget for the up comming financial year; and after much work trying to claw back funding in time I have had to bail on the atempt this season as the cut off for geting funds in place for flights and logistics etc has been. So we are now planning the North Pole section for the 2010 season, and hope to be able to bring forward the Aconcagua climb to the New Year insted as this is self funded (and much cheaper!)

Anyone wanting further details please click on the link in the above post; note that as yet I have not managed to change the website to reflect the above - not home to do the changes for another week......
