Background from Clearwater Special Projects:

Clearwater Special Projects Ltd is at the forefront of setting new and improved standards of professionalism in the security industry. Its Head Office at Netley Hall near Shrewsbury in England is set in 160 acres of beautiful Shropshire countryside.

Clearwater started as a specialist security business eight years ago with a small loan from the Prince’s Trust. Kevin Horak, Managing Director, built the company on the back of private investigations and lower level security services (initially) for local government authorities and solicitors.

Over time contracts were secured for the provision of Close Protection services to protect people, property, and places. In 2005, Clearwater became a limited company reflecting the substantial increase in turnover and Clearwater being approved as a training centre by EDEXCEL. Clearwater provides training to Level 3 BTEC qualification in Close Protection.

Clearwater is determined to provide services in a professional manner and will not compromise on standards. To this end Clearwater has evolved a close working relationship with the Security Industry Authority (sia).

Clearwater is very proud to be the first Close Protection Company in the UK to be awarded the SIA’s Approved Contractor Scheme status. This ‘hallmark of quality’ provides a reassurance to potential clients that Clearwater has been independently verified as having reliable policies and procedures.

The certifying body SGS UK Ltd assessed Clearwater’s quality management system and has awarded the company the prestigious quality standard ISO 9001:2000. Clearwater is the first company in the UK to be approved for the ‘Management of Close Protection Services for the security of Personnel, Events, and Property including Threat and Risk Assessment meeting the requirements of BS 7960.’ and providing ‘Close Protection

Training courses approved by the SIA’.

Clearwater Special Projects Ltd is also part of the British Standards Institute's development committee (GW/003/0-/14) for BS: 8507 2008 Close Protection Operations, which will be the new standard for Close Protection services.

Clearwater is extending its services overseas and has been authorised as an Approved Supplier for security services to United Nations Agencies and approved as a Supporter of the United Nations Global Compact business programme.

Clearwater supplies experienced, qualified, licensed Close Protection Operatives (CPO’s) to important overseas clients and has rapidly gaining a reputation for setting the ‘best in class’ in standards in the security industry.

We have a combined management team with an excess of 25 years experience and believe our organisation has the infrastructure and policies required to lift our level of services above that of our competitors.

In addition we:
Answered the phone to potential students promptly.
Provided information and information packs when requested promptly.
Open for pre-course visits on any appointments made (no problems).
Clearwater have an open factual website.
Clearwater can provide access to former students for advice or recommendation by word of mouth (on request).
Clearwater staff does not have black tape over their eyes or use pseudonyms.

Also:
Our CP training lasts exactly 14 days (including the weekends).
The instruction is delivered by experienced, qualified and licensed instructors (qualifications available for inspection on request)
We deliver exactly what the SIA core competency skills require and nothing else (what it says on the tin)
We do not deliver first aid training. The reason for this is simply because the vast majority of our students already have the qualification, so we do not waist their time and money
We do not teach underwater knife fighting or have students running about with plastic guns
We have no hidden cost for the students to bear.
Accommodation is on site and 4 and 5 star standard self catering (available for inspection on request)
Although we do not guarantee CP employment I can honestly say that we have employed up-to 90% of former students on short or long term CP contract (checkable)

The impossible, acheived?

Or is that statement exagerated somewhat?

I have read Kevin's book "The ultimate guide on Close Protetion Industry" an interesting read and good reference book for some one who is new or considering career in CP/EP industry.

Ive had a look through that too. For a man with his knowledge of protocol he certainly likes to pose with the principals! I actually thought the book did have some good content but could not help but get the feeling it was little more than a:

"Look at meeeeeee!"

Absolutely agree. Always good and bad.

It just all seemed too much though like he's trying too hard. Have you had a close look at the many posing picutres? Another impression I got were that many of them were at the same location or event...

We are not allowed to slag companys off .So that limits what I can say about the course.Thank god I had trained before I went on that course.I dont know anyone from my course who has had any paid work from them and Im in touch with quit a few of them.As fror the book I havnt read it but I have seen the pictures. At first glance you must think "wow what a top guy he's looking after MJ."Well that job was done for FREE by clearwater.Everyone was told they wouldnt get paid once the job had started and a couple of guys walked off.The sweatner was that if you did this job for nothing you could do the job in monnaco(Another photo oppertunity).Well this was another free be .
