Aye Rich, and not for the first time in books like this! Some of the absolute crap that has appeared in print over the past few years is absolutely toe curling in the embarrasment stakes, I would not mind if they were described as fiction, rather than fact, we can all 'stretch' a story, but some of them you read are pure 'Walter'!! Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!!!

Absolutely agree Ken, no one likes to be bluffed over. I wouldn't mind reading fiction (not that I do anyway), as long as the authors claimed that the truth has been distorted.

Likewise, to read a few books out there that are of the training variety also leaves much to be desired. Most only teach the legally binding ‘safe and easy’ option of only outlining the mediocre core competency framework as initiated by the Home Office’s Security Industry Authority for licensing purposes. They teach methods and drills out of date and unrealistic to the actions to be expected by the BG on the ground. They also teach methods adopted by those attacking that are not commensurate with the location of the operation and highly improbable concerning the intelligence and tactical application capabilities of those attacking. Further, and more importantly, some ‘teach’ bad and/or wrong methods and drills of body cover during Reaction to Attack that would not and do not work, and which are dangerous to both the Vip and Bodyguard.

Hi Neil - how you doing? You must come down to the sunny south when you have time to spare.

Now the cat's out the bag - my book seems to get ever longer each day, not so much the content but the list of contents. I now have 39 chapters to write - embus/ debus is some 18 pages long alone so if you want to be bored by CP and the proper way of doing things I'm afraid that it will be the best part of 12 months to wait yet! Good publishers are jacked up and it will have to be cleared by the MOD, and lawyers (as I don't want to be sued for making libel remarks about the SIA, BSIA, S4S, the Home Office and certain personalities, (not that I will mention any specific names of course).
