Steve, I am absolutley baffled with this. So much so that I'm seriously considering contacting the training center. Can you kindly pm me a contact and I will outline my background and reasoning.

sounds like yet another training source that prefers outdated.....redundant.....holywood stunts that look impresive but dont actually work
and the sad thing is if the trainers are teaching this c**p what other c**p are they also teaching food for thought mick |

I don't really have any say in what tactics are taught on the course. All I can say is....that's what I was taught to do.

Interesting post B3J, I agree completely that we are not there to do the old fashioned jump in front off the bullet scenario, no amount of money is worth that. I aslo agree with scab's post that it all depends on the situation you are in, is there cover, type of incoming, team size etc. By the sound of your thread the scenario is that you are alone with your principal while coming under fire, if so not a nice situation to be in, but still you have to do something.
If pushing him to the side into COVER does the job then great but what IF there is no cover to push him into. I have never been in this situation so it is a hard one to answer but I was also taught the step in front routine, initial contact, cover Vip, return fire (not a fire fight )but heads down, then get the hell out. There are many reasons for this technic some would say its good others bad, but hey if thats what we are taught. Its no good pushing your vip to the side if there is not cover for him, might as well shoot him yourself but then again the initial push to the side would probably take the aim of fire off him as then the attacker has two targets to fight and one of them is firing back. We could go on all day talking about the right way to do things but in the end the situation, training and circumstances will tale the tale. |
