Hi Mickblack,

I am in agreement with the above.

I would also add speed in between tactic and technique. If you cant think on your feet and haven't got the speed for the tactical move the technique will fail.

All will come with continuous training, eventually all the bits of the jigsaw will come together to make, whatever martial art you are practising, flow seemlessly. It is no good having one without the other, or it will fail.

Regards

Here is when you must have some reasonable good skills in fighting..
And I dont mean a roundkick in someones head..use all kind of dirty tricks!

To have a reasonable fit body and be trained in dirty fighting..since that helps you more from the so called street fights that do occur.

I had guys on our courses with strong martial art skills, the good thing is that they are fit and can fight! However the course we tell them to forget what they know!

Eek... Hawk.. No chap.. Conflict Management is not hand to hand combat, but a series of verbal and mental stratagems intended to defuse a situation... I'm a big believer in it (not as big as the sia who appear to believe it will work in every situation... Must ask one of them on day what approach he/she would try with a 'juiced up' bandit in darkest Brazil)...

And yes I'm a firm advocate of some form of Physical Intervention training, but it needs to be practical.... I am not against the angry white pyjama brigade, but these more traditional arts are not always the most ideal answer.....

Ahh Hippy,

Mmm are you talking about the stick weilding bandits in Brazil, the kali ones??? or the knives, or the guns.

Brazilian stick fighting - fantastic! They can adapt to most weapons fantastic with macheti's and all sorts and its good to watch - sorry im not sick honest. An admission I am not that good at it, but I do enjoy practising the martial art.

They are very quick and hit you at speed hard, that is not just the stick ouch!

Regards

Thankee' annie, but I must confess, its not my line.. "Angry White Pjyamas" is actualy a very good book. Authors name escapes me, but it tells about his year long course at the Judo school of the Tokyo Riot Police... An incrediblly harsh course... Can you imagine doing full on (not the watered down version we are used to) all day every day....

The injuries the students picked up and the drop out rate is fairly mind boggling...

Traditional martial arts is very structured yes depends on whice one and how you train in it.

Martial arts with reality based training would be a must. like adrenaline flowing and concentrated aggression while thinking understress.

where and when

This is importent, is it at venue or residance of your principle at 3 am in the morning. who are you bodyguarding high profile celeb or low profile business man.

Fall back on constituency plans, but taken out the threat is importent too
