From their web page:

(referred to as the Bodyguard Bible)

This manual is the most authoritative of its kind in the world today. Over 2,500 pages of tactics, training and operational procedures. Adopted by Government personnel Worldwide as a training aid.
Official copies are held in the Library of the Joint Chief of Staff at the Pentagon, Legal Deposit Office of the British Library, National Library of Scotland, National Library of Wales, Trinity College Dublin, the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, the Police Staff Training College, Branshill, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the national Intelligence Bureau Sri Lanka, the Ministry of Defence UK, the National police Academy of Norway and the US Department of the Treasury. Well people have to know that Mr Thombs is a former SAS.
And long before the sia license his courses was highly asked for and the only one accepted by foreign Governments..

Ive read the book when it was 1200 pages and then it was impressive,,
He never started his courses outside UK, if he would have he might be running the biggest organisation..
But since he never did, few students went his way, but he also did place some of them on jobs..

Also several former SAS guys who knows runs other CP courses started with Thombs

I never took his courses but atleast once they was the best..

Hi All,

I did PBA back in 2005, It is a good run course but we didnt cover all the things that you need to know like car drills etc because it is base in a building (it may have changed now). We did alot of Surveillance, which was hands on out and about, which I found very good. But I ended up doing a different CP course to get all the bit it didnt cover which you need to.

I am still a member of the PBA, but I have not heard from them in the last 2 1/2 years.

Take care all
Zac

Hey Guys,

Did this course in 07, very good Surv / Counter Surv training, car drills included as well, you live together as an Rst team & pefrom as such, good base course with plenty of first hand knowledge passed on, used to be 20 days before sia made everything commercial & was shortened to 15 days & all SIA subjects covered, they seem to have a good relationship with the SIA & licence process seemed quicker if you had this course.

As has been said John Tombs trained those who run other courses now......All good

Stay SAFE

J.T. speels his name Tombs, no "H". The Bodyguard manual as wrote by J.T. is still one of the best, if not the best reference work available to anybody serious about the C.P. Industry. Any genuine PBA members want to contact me for a chat I might be able to explain things reference the group, etc and why you have heard nothing of late. One thing I will assure you is that the PBA is still in existance and still running training courses. I did my first Civilian qualification with them way back before the sia and when the course was allowed to be realistic and relevant.

Hi all, just stumbled across this topic, i'm new here.
I did a 20 day course with the PBA at May this year, a lot of very good surveillance/counter and the instructors i found had a gsoh yet where professional at same time. I have recently finished reading the 3 manuals by j.tombs.
Are definately worth a read with some interesting insights into bging/surveillance and a lot of info on how to deal with certain threats.
Their accomodation is not great though and you are based in three different venues around a town but it fit in well with their course content.
Overall 9/10.

Hello All and especially Bravo 24, The PBA web address has recently changed and the new address is www.the-pba.org although the other address as stated is still running there is one or two problems with it so I am informed and as such this will be the new address.
Stay Safe,
A.I.

Can anyone advise me...Iam needing to change career now and really think CP industry could be what i need.
I am looking at PBA course in Durham or Wilplan?
Have spoken to both sets of instructors and am impressed by both. Just am unsure as to which would give me the most.
Am a little concerned about getting work too as no previous exp. but got to start somewhere.
