The answer to that is yes,but is she suitable ....no! this is the problem that the industry has is that there are too many qualified(sia) cpo who are not up to stratch which is down to some training providers and the way the sia have structured things. No one thought of suitability to the job! Its seems to be all about the money! i know we all have to start somewhere but you also have to be a certain type of person, years ago you had an interview to see if you were suitable now adays some training companies are taking students money knowing full well they will never get employment. is this wrong or am i way off?

I agree that a fair amount of responsibility does rest with the training provider rather than the SIA as they only set a minimum standard. It is certainly up to the training company to excel to that standard or just get people through. I think you will find any descent company will filter out potential problem candidates as it is not fair to the other students. I know that when I was involved with a course a certain gentleman became abusive because he was not called back in a time frame to his liking (30 minutes if I recall). Although he may well have benefited from the conflict management part of the course, his demeanour was not conducive to being a CPO in the first place so it was decided to tell him that the next two courses were already booked.
It is not always easy to tell even with a sharp skill in reading people as some people can really shine given a situation that you would expect to fail. Also the opposite can be true as well so is it fair to take that chance away from someone? Obviously if they are going to be a possible disruption to other course members then an executive decision has to be made to safeguard other paying candidates. It is the responsible thing to do. I guess I am a good example of that as many friends thought I would be of little use when it came to unarmed combat because of my tendency to be non confrontational and avoid physical situations if I can. Given that chance I showed that I could not only perform but perform well. I am not sure about your mum though but considering she has raised you she may be stronger than you think ![]() Edited because the word "s c r a p e" is sensored!
