Has anyone got any good idea"s of how to get rid of a crap TL? APART FROM A DOUBLE TAP TO THE HEAD! LOL

Before trying to bin your TL(Prob harder than you think)why not look at it from a different perspective.

Just bear in mind that being a TL can be alonely place sometimes as you have to make decisions that are unpopular with the team but are operationally required.

TL's and 2i/c's also have to tell people things they dont want to hear and are responsible for discipline within the team i.e. tighten up your drills, work on your driving, dress and appearance, attitude etc. Some people can take offence to this and dont like 'Constructive criticism' from others.

Something to bear in mind mate.

If your TL is bad, why? Please do tell as we as TL's and 2i/c's can take your comments on board.

Maybe the 2i/c should approach the TL and if they have a good working relationship have a chat about his/hers problem areas away from the team.

Get a few bars of Exlax, re-wrap them in regular chocolate bar wrappers, allow said TL to scoff the lot and half an hour later present him with a bucket with his name on it and two rolls of toilet paper! It should get rid of him for a couple of hours at least.

Apparently Roger Moore used this trick on one of the crew during the filming of The Man With The Golden Gun, Who would have thought old Roger "mortice" would have had an evil streak in him.

Oh get the medicated toilet paper, you know the stuff that is more like tracing paper

our TL has been on this job for 11 months now without moving from the compound doing no recces the ops room isnt an ops room due to the fact there is no sops in place maps or any int! even though he has been told from above if anything needs to be done he just wont do it which means the rest of the team has to carry him and now the teams falling apart which is very fustrating for us!

From this post and the others on other threads I see it's getting desperate with you and your TL. You mention them above how about an email or phone call to "those above" with a list of documented facts of what isn't done when asked or should be done that isn't. There should be no need to give your name, but often if you are unwilling to give your name sometimes the comments or complainants are not taken seriously. Be prepared actions like this could lead to the whole team being replaced a catch 22 situation and only you can make that call. I'm sure other suggestions will made over the next couple of days.
Good Luck and keep us all informed of your actions and what happens if anything.

I agree with hippo, if he is burden on the team and is putting you or your subject at risk then you need to raise your concerns. if your team is willing to back you it should get sorted. Covert munkey also raised a good point, who will replace him? will things change? does he just need a talking to by the 2ic to tell him moralle is low.

My first 2ic in Iraq was a right nightmare, and I had already come to a decision about my actions should we get in a fire fight. All because I was an ex copper! We never use to speak for days. Fortunately I moved to a better team within weeks against the 2ic's request to keep me....I will never work/employ him ever...

I remember he flew to my location a year latter (with some important docs) and I refused to pick him up from the airport and bring him back to our location, I let him stew there 24 hours.
After getting the docs.

But going on to your situation you are going to have to speak to the 2ic and see if he can talk to the TL. Or e-mail your bosses and ask for a reassignment. I have seen it happen and its worked out for the best.
