I've been following the recent hearings concerning the accident that killed Princess Di and Dodi Fayed; with TRJ appearing in the dock today with accusations of being part of a cover-up and accused of not doing his job correctly by not being aware of the change of plan re egress from the Ritz or for wearing his seatbelt, I wondered if others on here had been following the case and if as professionals you had opinions on it.......

Having worked with TRJ in a couple of different environments i am very upset at the accusations!
He is not the reason for her death or part of any conspiracy theory, This story and this hearing should have been put to bed a long time ago....but i guess it never will like the death of JFK this will run and run.

But as fellow professionals we should be behind TRJ at every stage if we hear other be laymen or so called professional giving it the large or as i have heard "if i was him i would have done this" put that person done (no violence of course) if you are an employer and that person is in your employment i would send him home . I had a guy on a recent course and stated that phrase above "" lets say just say he failed the course and was RTU'd.

TRJ is the consumate professional lets leave him to his memories and let him get on with his career.

I have followed the case on and off. As a BG or CPO often the boss dosen't keep you informed all the time for variuos reasons, most often is they have forget to tell you. Unless you have a crystal ball this situaution is not uncommon. As for wearing a seat belt I can not see a reason not to wear one whilst a BG or VIP driver. So in my opinion the only thing he could of done if he wasn't aware of alcohol on thr drivers breath was to try and slow the driver down unless they were being chased and he trusted the drivers ability. If he had noticed or suspected alcohol i'm sure he would have attempted to replace the driver and without knowing all the facts will we all have to accept it was a tragic accident.

Its good to hear the points above; I agree with much of them.
I have no experiance of working with TRJ, but coming from his home town, have played rugby with him and met him on a number of occasions and know him to be a very quiet professional person.
As industry professionals we aught to respect him as one also and do what we can to surpress any negative walter comments about "sould have done this or that"; whats happened has happened and can not be changed.
I think he is a credit to the industry and himself for returning/continuing in the indutry in the strong way that he has, and is a symbol of professionalism and determination for those in the industry.

It was a tragic case and fortunate that there was a survivor. The pressure TRJ must have been under, imagine taking out your principle who just happens to be with a princess.

It was an awful event and I wish TRJ the very best, he will live with what happened for the rest of his life. The media coverage will continue...

It would be a good 'wear your seatbelt' safety campaign

All very good points. A lot of the time a client will just do what he likes despite all the briefs, instructions, etc...you give him. I was looking after a US client just before Christmas in a hostile ME country. Gave him all the briefs, etc...... I had him for about 8 days and on day 4 he let it slip he had been going for a run in the park opposite the hotel every morning at 5.30 since we arrived!!!!
And then on the last day I was due to take him and 3 colleagues to the aiport. Pick up was arranged for 12 noon. Got up at about 7.30 and saw these 4 dudes getting into 2 cars!! Rushed down the stairs to ask where the f##k they were going? "Oh.... the flights been brought forward". We'll make our own way there!!!!!
At the end of the day we all do our best but sometimes the client will not choose to listen or will listen.....and then do what the f##k he or she wants anyway!!!
