Dear All,
As many of you are aware, there is a questionaire on the SIA requirements for CP currently being circulated by a degree student. If any of you have the opportunity and time to fill this form in then it will no doubt be of benefit to the student but also may provide another reasoning to change and improve the current core competencies for SIA CP licesning as stipulated by the SIA. Frustrated with the initial core competency framework of the core competencies and Accreditation of prior Learning, (APL), set by the British Governments Security Industry Authority for the licensing of close protection I have persistently lobbied for changes over the past 2 years directly to the Home Office, The Cabinet Office, The Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Skills For Security and the SIA themselves, with the sole aim to raise the decided standards and implement a more reality driven framework for the basis of APL, close protection training, and operational employment practise of CP officers. I had forwarded my own research report for a degree to all those departments as mentioned above, which I have attached for those that are interested. All my efforts, apparently, have not gone unnoticed and there is a great chance for me to make these changes this year. N.B It must be noted that my research report is my conclusive thoughts of the process and in no way is it aimed to slander anybody or their character. Best regards, Rich H. |

Hey Rich,
Ineteresting read, as is the way of the World (In America anyway) can the SIA be sued if a CPO who they have issued a SIA BG licence too makes a mistake (God forbid) Who is the culpable party SIA or BG With ASIS you can sue ASIS but they are covered by the Safety Act.............not so sure about the SIA......Ineteresting stuff With both BG & Adv BG courses I have done the instructors where not to complimentry about the SIA....they where Ex SAS, 14 Int & RMP so they knew a thing or two. One instructor had been calling "Principals" Clients for years & just as he had his around the Principal thing they changed it too "Client" Go figure I applaud your efforts in trying to change the system & the Tiered system & a simple Matrix database of all Licenced CPO with there relevant experiences would satisfy potential clients, but this also would have to have the correct levels of access as well. The SIA has grown to big too fast, licence times have gone from 3 mths to 6 mths minimum, so Best of Luck with your efforts. Can you post any results you have on this forum, to keep the little people informed Cheers |
