I'm pretty sure I want to be RMP CP but have not decided which path would best suit me, either officer or soldier. I've been down to the recruitment place and they're no help :P Would I still be able to the CP role and course if i was to join as an officer or would i be limited to pushing papers and bossing lower ranks about?

Hopefully someone with RMP experience could enlighten me?

As an RMP officer you can apply for the CP course however once qualified the number of tours you'll be able to do will be less than the lower ranks as you put it. As you'll be farmed out to all different kinds of RMP units to be a good all rounder and not specialist in one area. As an Officer on paper you may be the highest rank on the team and you might even hold the title of TL, but the person running the show especially on your first team will be the Senior NCO with you as a figure head. So the choice is yours.

Hippo states it clearly, if you want a lot of CP, with 'slowish' promotion, then join as a soldier and do the course that way. In todays climate you'll have more CP tours than you can shake a shitty stick at, providing you don't prove to be a plonker on your first tour.
If its a structured career path you want with CP in the mix, then join as an Officer. You might get a tour and providing its a good one, you'll put your name in the frame further down the line for the OC's job at Longmoor.

Excuse me!!!!! Bossing lower ranks about, if that is your perception of being an RMP officer in my Corps, despite the fact that I have been out for 20 odd years I suggest you think again. CP is a team effort and there is no "I" in team pal......sorry rant over. Geez I wish I was still CSM of CP and he was a rupert, Id eat him for breakfast and then let my 2 dobermans have whats left.

JT,

Yes, ex LCpl RAOC I seem to remember? An ass before his course but calmed down a lot and was a good guy prior to leaving. Was at Bulford just before I tipped up there I seem to remember. Now works for Shell I believe and lives around Farnborough somewhere last I heard.
