Hows it going, I wanted to read up on the conflict info of areas that CPs can work in.
I am doing my CP course early this year and want to have a good understanding about the countries and what is goin on there.
If anyone can drop me a quick list that would be great.

Also an sia querie if anyone can help.

Once I have done my course and sent in application can I apply for work while im waiting for my licence or am I forced to do crappy security work for another 2 months while im waiting.

Cheers

You can work as long as the company you have applied for is an sia Approved Contractor. You have to inform the SIA who you are working for and give your employer a reference number. They can track what stage your licence is at. If you get refused then both parties will know and give you the boot. Good Luck

Areas that CPOs can work? Anywhere. There is no UN mandate stating close protection officers can only operate in.........

So your required list would be a tad long!!!

MIPT Terrorism Knowledge Base (TKB) Look at this website, it will give you the general terrorist threat and summary of incidents within a particular country.

Jason,

Good research on operational areas is paramount as all would agree, try out the CIA world fact file and also the FCO website, they will give you a complete list of contrys outlining detailed information, another good source is the local libaryof all places in the refrence section you will find the European intelligence committee file, this holds a wealth of information on country's in Europe.

As for sia and working, this is only required if working in England and Scotland, Europe and international you are not required to be SIA certifyed, saying that some companys do insist that you hold a vaild licence reguardless, a large percentage of operators in Iraq and Afgan do not hold SIA certification. also you will find some companys want you to complete there course to have any chance of employment.
Remember though passing a basic CP course is not a guarantee to a high payed job.

All the best

On MIPT's Main Page ( Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT) ) it states:

Quote:
MIPT is refocusing its efforts to become a national terrorism prevention training and exercise center for the Department of Homeland Security. TKB ceased operations on March 31, 2008, and elements of the system will be merged with the Global Terrorism Database (GTD), managed by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland. We have been pleased to provide the TKB to the public over the past four years, and we look forward to continued service in our new role. Please email us your comments or feedback.
The Global Terrorism Database can be accessed through START | Global Terrorism Database .

MIPT is still there I looked on it 4 days ago, a test of initiative would be to type those 4 letters into a search engine. Its still there.
