Hello there, i am a new member and joined this site so that i could learn more about being a CPO.
I am 23 years old with no military experience (other than cadets) and am about to sit my CPO sia license so that i can start a foundation degree in cpo and security which intern will allow me to sit a counter terrorism/global security Ba degree. I have been working as a licensed SIA level2 door supervisor for nearly 3 years with good references and also as a prcess server/private investigator for 2 years. I also hold a full uk FAC license and regularly shoot in the uk along with a 2 week IPSC holiday every year in eastern europe. i am looking to transfer my skills across along with gaining new ones from continual training. the question i have to ask is do civilians without MOD experience get any work? I am well qualified and have a young profesional work ethic along with speaking english and spanish fluently and french to a very high level. does speaking foreign langauages have any benefit? let me know on your views! many thanks Miles Overton

Hi Miles,
Yes civies do get work and there are alot of good people out there with no Mil experince. Places like High Risk Countries you might find it slightly more difficult to find work as many firms like to have Operators who have some Mil exp. Reference the langauages it's always a bonus to beable to speak more then just your mother lanauage, English and Spanish will get you far but to improve your chances, learn Arabic. |

yeah as 24/7 sais you will get work but be aware at the moment the circuit seems to be swamped with guys. This time of year is always quiet but this year seems to be an exception and very quiet. there are more cpo's than jobs in my opinion.

I would agree, you seem to be going in the right direction but you have your age against you and this is a difficult industry to be in.Good luck
