Just wondering, whats the biggest Close Protection Team that you have worked in?

11 man team early days in basrah

I was part of a 10 man team in Baghdad back in 05/06, that has subsequently risen to 11. In the early 90's though a friend of mine (Steve L) was TL for a 22 man team in Algiers, for which he was awarded the MBE.

Cant remember exaxtly but it was 1977, Sennelager, visit of Her Maj and Phil the greek and we were about 40, if not more, I was stationed at the back door OF the Mess where she was being dined and dressed as a chef, with a 9mm in me waistband and an smg, yes an smg in a bag. I was ok until some Brigadier Chef asked me to start slicing the salmon, well a quiet word in his ear soon put him straight. There were guys in the band and the Major Domo was one of ours as well, all directed by Maj Nick Crew, god rest his soul, and a bllody marvellous party at Werl at the end.

13 man team in Algiers with FCO in '96'. First tour, steep learning curve and a great time.

It had to be started by someone John 701, we were the pioneers for future RMP Close Protection jobs and yes you may think it funny, but we did a damned good job without the frills you have these days, believe me.

22 man mixed CP team (Met Prot team and RMP CPU) when Tony Blair came to Basra and visited various units in MND(SE). We had a 24 member ARF team and an unknown number of outer cordon guys and girls from various other units. So in all over 100 people in his security plan if not in the actual CP team.
