Ok. Just thought i would ask a question and see what the majority think or should i say the majority on here. Bit of a poll thing for the newcomers deciding to do a course. Can you answer on your own experiences and from friends and colleagues experiences. It would be good if you can break it down with regards to content. For example, a certain course will be good for weapons and another for First Aid, if you get what i mean. Exclude the obvious, RMP, SAS, Civ Prot.
OK i'll start the ball rolling........from my own experience, i thought the Task course when i did mine in 1995 was one of the best for the majority, however it has somewhat slipped. For first Aid, i have heard and seen footage that the Ronin course is quite impressive. Hope this helps some people. |

From experience a course run by a company will change every year due to the instructors changing over, its impossible to say one companies course is better than the other in some respects due to this.
For example the Task course of 2006 is different to the one of 2007 and different again to the 2008 one due to the changeover of instructors. |

I understand what you are saying, however if we can get some idea of a company that has been good lets say for the past 5 years, not necessarily the best but has been of a good standard then people may get an idea of where to look. Personally i would say, do the cheapest and learn on the ground, however if people want to do a decent course we can at least give them an insight.

I don't think its just a matter of how good the training is. The biggest problem is how good that company's reputation is. They can have brilliant training, good content, well delivered etc. but if they give anyone pass grades despite some people not being up to the job then their qualifications will be meaningless. You will get your SIA badge but it might not help you get a job.

Unfortunatly paying for these courses are a big problem for some people so they go for the cheapest one,but it doesnt mean they cant do the job? in this industry you can either do it or you cant. doesnt mean because someone spent 4500 on a course that he going to be better than someone who spent 1600 it just means he has more money to spend. at the end of the day its about networking

Ok i think there is a bit of confusion about this thread. I was asking people what they think of the company they trained with and would they recommend them or recommend others. Its a heads up for people thinking about a course. I wasn't asking about what company trainers and reputations are like. Like i said, if i had to start again i would do the cheapest just to get my licence as all tasks are run differently. I was going to calculate all the answers and put companies in order of preference, however as some people can't even answer the question right and go all political....my advice to all people doing a course....don't bother, go underground and get a licence for about 400 quid.
