Close Protection World Function 2009

The Close Protection World function last night was very much a success. The previous function that I attended last year was surpassed by leaps and bounds this year.

It was a good opportunity to meet Covert Monkey, Annie, 24/7, Stoney and many others to put a face behind some of the great posts on the forum. Much respect to all of you for the hard work in making the function happen again this year on a larger scale.

The vendors and speakers are in my opinion an important part of the CPW network. To realize how far the industry has grown one of the speakers from G4S said that in CV’s received in 2007 a yearly total of 2,997 were received. Compared to up to the date 2009 a total of 2,693 keep in mind this is just half a year passed. The competition is tough to get a vacancy. Networking is the key. Again, many thanks to all of the vendors for their support to Close Protection World.

On a sour note on the night someone nicked/stole/re appropriated/five fingers discounted my Surveillance book off the table where I had left my jacket. This is unacceptable in the industry of “security professionals”. If you wanted a book that bad I would have been happy to buy you one. In that environment one would think a book would be safe for 5 minutes.

Massimino you were greatly missed at the function last night. It was nice to receive a message from you during the function. I will be in Italy in July and I pass through Milan for a Cappucino. Ciao

As a relatively new member of the forum and predominately working in the Security Operations/Training role it was with a little trepidation I attended the Close Protection World meeting for the 1st time.

I would like to add that it was enjoyable, informative and an excellent networking opportunity. The guest speakers and vendors gave an unbiased view into the many aspects throughout the Security Industry from training to employment opportunities. I also met people I knew from as far back as 20 years.

I would like to pass on my thanks to the CPW Team for arranging the event, the guest speakers, vendors and those that donated the excellent raffle prizes. I was fortunate enough to win a 3 day SSO course with Independent Maritime Associates Ltd and I will, of course give the forum and donating company feedback after I attend.

Tapmaster Sorry to hear someone thought they would stoop to the level of taking a book for free!!! Unbelievable !!!!

Just to echo the above, many thanks to all who made last night a success, a great event attended by some very interesting people.

As a newbie to the forum I didn't know what to expect of a Forum event, however I was very happy to find very approachable members, who have a lot to offer from their vast experience.

The trip home on the tube and train to Bisley with my 5.11 Hat and Blackhawk Tac vest thankfully went off without a bang. A great Raffle and for two great charities.

I look forward to the next one, stay safe....
