Hi guys

I would like to ask you a silly but an important question as well regarding mobile phones.

You, as an Executive CPP would recommend or use what sort of mobile, I mean if you travel all over the world and need something that is kind of a “state of the art phone” where you can do basically anything on that, especially when it comes to Videos, Photos, Navagation System, what sort of phone and make do you have?

When I am working over seas on the ground I carry an old Nokia (with no camera) and use a local network pay as you go sim card. I don’t use it to phone home and don’t store any names to numbers. If it is lost or it is stolen r if you have to bin it there are no dramas no trace. God for bid you get hit or kidnapped you don’t want the boyos phoning your home and giving your family the good news.
If you are working in the (for f*%K sake no signal) a sat phone may be a good idea this can also be used as a sat nav. You can get a good one for a couple 100 shekels.
This is my opinion if you have an all singing and dancing mobile that makes you tea in the morning when you need it the most it will g o tits up and you have lost every thing.

I follow the same ideas- before you take any kit with you ask yourself if this gets broken/ nicked/ lost what do I do then? I personally wouldn't recommend having all your eggs in one basket- if you use a smartphone as your comms and also you nav tool, what do you do if it breaks? Not only are you lost, but you can't contact anyone for assistance either. Also if you take a smartphone, what happens if you get a job in a shithole like Tijuana or Djibouti( don't laugh I've been there) and the phone breaks? You'll be stuffed cos sure as hell they'll not be able to fix it.

Ok, let redirect this question as you guys are talking more about being in fkd up regions than lets say... around Europe or USA.
I talked last night to a guy who was from the Swiss Intelligence - now based in London - and he uses Xda Stellar, from O2.
