vip close protection courses are offered by many close protection training companies.

Police forces such as GMP have 20 day residential courses from £4500. These courses are aimed to train authorised firearms officers in the principles of VIP protection.

These courses are only available to other home office police forces.

Aim

To train selected authorised firearms officers in the principles of VIP close
protection.

Objectives

- Assess the threats presented by a variety of sources
- Demonstrate a range of close protection skills, tactical options and techniques
- Demonstrate the ability to consistently handle weapons safely and competently
- Display a constant ability to carry and handle weapons appropriately both range and scenario situations
- Demonstrate the ability to shoot accurately as an individual protection officer or as part of a protection team
- Demonstrate tactical awareness when conducting recess and advances in the role of a protection officer
- Demonstrate the ability to adopt the most appropriate tactical option to resolve given circumstances
- Demonstrate a high degree of interpersonal skills
