Would you when not working, physically get involved to help the aggreived or would you pretend to not notice, and walk on by, if you saw ....(hypothetically speaking)

1) A shop being robbed...
2) Someone being assulted...

I would get involved in both. I have got involved in various incidents in the past whilst off duty. We all have a duty as citizens to prevent crime and I think that criminals should know that ordinary random passing members of the public will get involved.
Of course you have to do a risk assessment, and check you know what is going on, ie. that assault isn't the shopkeeper that's just been robbed apprehending the suspect.

Has Croydon become more of a cesspit than when I left there 5 years ago. Carnage outside the Blue Orchid on a saturday night! Still they have nice gleaming trams now (finaly!)

I work in Salford, one of the 5th most violent cities in this country. if you're going to intervene know your capabilities, keep your eyes open and be prepared for the situation to go tits up. Some people don't appreciate you meddling in their affairs, and even so called victims can turn and join the chase.

Saying this, you can't turn a blind eye, as the world would be a bigger s**t dump than it already is!

I would't jump in if it was two 6ft ers having a go, i would do the phone a friend option - the local bobby, but if I was caapable of intervening then I would. Hence me not getting involverd with the robbery.

To be honest Nomad, I wouldn't know, I consider Gatwick about as close as I ever need to get to Croydon. If I want to get mugged, stabbed, beaten or jumped I will go to Kingston and get done by a posh NED rather than a scummer
