Ronin9 is on a distinguished road
Greetings:

I am considering doing an "apprenticeship" or "internship" in the Legion to attain that vital skill set needed for high-level CP work.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any, or if there are any, former Legionaires out there who are fairing well in the CP world? Also, if anyone has any other thoughts/inside info. on the legion it would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

do a search on "Legion Etranger" and you will have all the info you need from the History to Modern day combat techniques. Even better do "Legion Etranger 2 REP" then go down the list to the You-Tube Video's and enjoy mon amie!!!

Hello Ronin9,
There are a lot of ex legionnaires out there on the various circuits but being a legionnaire doesn't create any specific opportunities.
If I had my time again I'd do the Legion again. Join up, get into the REP here in Calvi and have a damned good first five years. You'll meet some real mad hatters, they'll stay your mates for life. You'll be 'projected' to some of the most deprived regions of the world and they'll get under your skin. You'll work hard and play even harder.
But you will not get any specific CP training (not even in the 'Les Groupe de Commandos Parachutistes') so forget that straight away.
All the best if you do decide to take the plunge.

Whilst I have the highest regard for the Legion, I have to ask if it is the organisation to join to learn CP skills?? I would have thought that an organisation that actually carries out such activities would be more, er, suitable....

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Those of you that addressed that I will not likely acquire any CP-specific skills in the Legion are correct, i'm sure.

I'll have the CP skills from Excecutive Security International (ESI), here in the U.S. I am more interested in getting the military background, discipline and combat experience that is so highly desired. Also, who knows, maybe i'll love it enough to make it a career by itself.

Thank you and please keep the replies coming. I want to make as informed a decision as possible.

At this point, I have read most of the webpages and seen many of the youtube videos. One question that is still on my mind though is, what kind of medical issues disqualify?

For example, I have flat feet. I would hate to get to France and get sent home for flat feet?

Some of the sources of info. suggest that as long as there are not major medical issues, and you pass the physical tests, then you are in?

What do you think?
