I am in a similar position, I have 5 years service with the MOD Police and 5 years service as a Special Constable, I currently work with my local Authority (36 hr week) but really can't wait to tell them to "poke it" I have been offered a mobile supervisors position covering the East of Scotland for a large UK security firm. I will be doing the Door Supervisors course next week and the CCTV one in the near future which I presume/hope the company are paying for, the £250 for the sia licence will be deducted from my first 6 salaries although i should be able to get about £50 tax relief on it.
The problem I have is my current job pays £11 an hour and the job I have been offered only pays £6.50 an hour for a 48hr week with no sick pay and about 10 days less holiday's.

Things that you should consider after completing a CP Operators course are:
Like learning to drive a car you have only passed the test! It takes years of experience to drive to a good standard so stick with the job and start working on the Rst or on stands at trade fairs. Watch how Operators with a little more experience deal with routine actvity gradually develop your skills at a basic level. Do this part-time to begin with and as you become known for reliability and attitude you will pick up more assignments. Look to enhance your skills and focus on future tasks such as the Olympics and begin to familiarise yourself with the areas and routes that may be used. Consider additional training that are useful such as First Aid courses that go beyond the basic level. Develop road and driving skills get to know London and the other major cities that may be visited by clients. Develop a local knowledge of the shops that a Principal might use in London. Finally remember that once you become a contractor you are self employed! There is no paid sick leave! |

There's another thread here that explains it more but basically the particular family stipulates that they don't want any officers who have previously servied in the middle east whether privately or with the forces. I've sent you a PM.
