I was actually going to post a similar question. I'm interested in this type of work and saw the Mckenzie Arnold ad but was wondering if anyone had any info about this kind of job?
UK CPO license holder governed by US Law? Personally I would have thought that this kind of job would be recruited through other channels? I'm away at the mo but will give them a call when i get back and let you know if i have any luck. |

There was an oufit called SAMRA a while back claiming they had a the training rights or whatever to supply air marshalls, no experience needed and advertised in FHM.....alarm bells not ringing allready there.....
The jackanory was (and it was a good one) that you had to pay several thousand to do the training course in america but to apply had to send off money to cover admin fees??? Sad thing was I knew a few people who were taken in by this, the owner of samra was allready disqualifed from running a company and was investigated for fraud on this matter. The police are the only ones that cover this role (for uk) and anyone who says different is talking bollocks. |

I stand to be corrected but I would hazzard a educated guess that any uk firm claiming to train and provide aair marshalls is talking ballacks and is just after your money .As far as Im aware ,and again Im open to being corrected the only flights outbound and inbound to uk that may have marshalls on board are USA and Israeli. There was a news report some time ago that the police instructors who trained the officers involved in London Tube shooting in 07 were now going to train firearms officers from UK selected to undertake "Air Marshall "roles. And to be honest can you really see the "pc" powers to be in the UK allow armed /unarmed officers ( be they police or others ) riding the skys ?? If they did I guess it would be on high risks flights ,ie USA/ISRAEL and thats already covered.

You'll find the role in question was for UK based sky marshals working for the US gov. How it works no idea it's just how it's billed.

Granted walks ,however i would expect you would have to do a course in the states then,i dont believe a uk firm would get the contract to train bods.aslo as many on here are aware of the aspects of working for the us gov as many are on dod contract in iraq

Didn't say you wouldn't have to do a course it's a US job wanting UK based bods
McKenzie Arnold Security References Look at number 2 (Ithink) on the jobs board. They're not claiming to do the training, just the recruitment. After recruitment you appear to come under the US gov. |

Not sure what the current state of play is with this now. The US Sky Marshals come under the Homeland Security' TSA (Transportation Security Administration) which acts as more of a Law Enforcement agency than a dedicated Sky Marshal service. They cover investigation, Surveillance and screening of passengers passing through airports and train stations. The UK Police provide the APO (Aircraft Protection Officers) for outbound flights but I believe this is on a basis of trailing suspects rather than preventing airborne situations. Surely no government agency would allow a flight to take off if there was a definate risk of something happening onboard. I think that any UK based Sky Marshals would carry out investigative work mainly to assist US operations. Saying that, large numbers of existing operatives in the Sky Marshals division are leaving the service due to poor working conditions and environments. To this effect, recruitment requirements have been eased to ensure sufficient numbers are met. This has led to people with criminal convictions such as racial attacks and firearm convictions gaining employment. These operatives have displayed their characteristics in live operations and general overt policing in the US.
This is something that I too have been monitoring for several years, hopefully they'll open their Atlantic City training camp to selected foreign nationals from Germany, Israel and the UK. Richie Dis Pater |
