As i know that bodyguard and close protection officer is different things.
Bodyguard is a big guy with black glasses, who meet you in the station Hi i am your bodyguard lets go..
Close Protection starts from planning, advance security etc...
This is the difference.

Scab will become famous soon enough
The bodyguard, is a role of the Close Protection Operator.

Much like PES, SAP etc...

They are one and the same when in role.

Kinda like calling a chiropractor a doctor. One has extensive training, many years of internship and residency, while the other just goes to school. They both have their roles, but are not interchangeable.

Ask a doctor if he knows CPR and watch the funny look you'll get.

The role of the bodyguard will always stick in people’s mind - a very useful capable guardian and physical barrier for the person they are with. The recognition for CPO came with the understanding that there is a lot more to the role than standing out in a crowd and looking threatening. Many use their mental ability hand in hand with physical ability - the two marry well. Different situations require different images, and different assignment requires different abilities. To gain recognition as a professional we should all undertake the quest to be more than a 'bodyguard', and to be one of the better CPO's. Understand how to do a risk assessment, and more importantly how the role fits into that of the security management cycle. It is essential and a fundamental part of being actively involved with security. So Marius you are spot on!
