I've seen those stipes everywhere, they are normaly seen on the wepons you hire at the shooting range!
Seen them in red too...

IN CPO/PPO Land

Its purely for recognition- IFF (ID Friend/Foe)- All Israeli Govt agencies use them

Due to the nature of the work and the volume of protection(multlti-agency) to multiple individuals at events - particularly Israel- any weapon with the flashes is friendly.
it also works at night as a friendly fire negator the strips are luminecant so glow in dark.
There are obvious drawbacks but the advantages outway them.

The open expanse of the airfield means they just look like colourful tape and serve no purpose in this arena.
Close in at a convention/Government function etcetc they excell.

The USSS and HS-DSS use them now as well.

So I'm wondering, would the colour of the strips be changed everyday, every week etc so the bad guys dont know the colour?
