I realise that this may be a broad question to answer and may vary greatly between companies.
What contract terms and conditions are considered as the 'norm' these days with the major PSD/CP companies in Iraq/Afghan? i.e. rotation, paid flights home, travel pay, pay whilst on leave, salary, insurance, kit supplied by coy etc. Thanks in anticipation of your response. Stay safe! |

Bootneck...you ask a good question mate and there will be plenty of advice for you coming your way...If I may though Bootneck, I would like to suggest to you that it is as important to understand under which Authority or domain you are signing the contract...An example for you is that with Armor you used to accept the terms and conditions from a company registered outside of the UK in the Channel islands (May have changed with the T/O by G4s) ergo...what does that mean for you? Also you may find that 'still' contracts are placed in front of you at the very last possible moment...Remember also the 'Definition' of a 'Contract' is:
An Offer... followed by An Acceptance... followed by A Further Acceptance... This constitutes in British and European Law 'A Contract' I trust that some of the above helps. Last edited by Carl Dowd; 28-06-2008 at 04:22 PM. Reason: info change |

Pleasure Bootneck...I have merely made a general statement here mate based on experience. Contracts...the Law of Contracts...Misrepresentation...different types of contracts etc etc etc can be generally complex....so my written paragraph is by no means meant to be Authoritative on the subject. I think I am just trying to say the following:
1. Make sure the contract meets your needs...remember it should protect both parties. 2. Apply some caution when signing something outside of the UK legislative framework. And 3. Ask yourself "Can I effectively enforce the content of this contract should I need to"? If no-one on the site does come back to you Bootneck with heeps of advice then I'll send you some further info on the content of contracts and the type we issue here at RTD Group ose and some samples of others. I trust that'll help. best regards Carl Dowd |

Bootneck,
Generally it varies between companies and different contracts AG FCO contract 9 and 3, 47.5k if in Helmand 45 k Kabul (operators) full insurance package and a good welfare package if the inevitable happens paid monthly including when you are on leave, all flights and train fares to home address paid Aegis Matrix works out roughly 9 and 3 (you get 90 days leave) Pay around 70k depends on the $ at the time, however one of your leaves will work out a long one ie 28 days at home. The company will pay for 3 return flights a year to your home airport only and you have to pay for the 4th return flight. Again they have a full insurance package. Sabre have low profile stuff in iraq £225 a day in country, 8 and 4 although not paid on leave not sure what insurance package AG Convoys 8 and 4 full insurance package all flights paid not sure on the salary these days though. As for kit most if not all companies will provide helmet body armour and some will provide protective clothing/uniform. There are a lot more companies than that out there so hopefully others will be able to add to it. What I will say is if you are offered a job any where make sure in your mind that its for you with the contract/leave/insurance/equipment/vehicles/pay that is on offer, horror stories from companies that have had short cuts leaving blokes stranded in hospitals etc.. Any thing else mate gives a shout |
