I am not completely aggreeing with mjays comments about military not thinking for themselves, I will say there are some excellent people out there with no military/police backgrounds and i do not judge people by their previous regts or organisations but by how good they are on a job. What I will add is i would only consider ex-mil for hostile work in Iraq/Afghan.
I have just finished a job in the UK where there was an excellent bloke who comes from a civy background, and he has worked some major contracts. I am in no doubt he will work for me in the future. |

Hi just reading this topic. I agree with above should not judge people on background but on performance on the task. I disagree with the bloke that says ex military can't think for themselves. I spent 12 years in army and i have had to think for myself many times. When you got lads lives in your hand as section commander in Afghan you make decisions for yourself not wait with your thumb up your arse for someone to make decision.
There many good guys out there ones with no military experience and ones with military experience. But that is load crap saying Military blokes cannot think for themselves, load crap. |

smudge i am actually a femaile not a bloke!
the comment about mil blokes not being able to think for them selves was a generalization! its not very nice when u all get tarred with the same brush is it? now maybe u can see how us civvies feel when we read comments directed at how cicilians have no place in the industry! i appologise to all thise i offended it was not intened i was merely trying to drive point home! |

Each person has their own merrits, we all have strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes people are too quick to jusdge and go on hearsay, at the end of the day we all want to do the best our abilities will allow us. I would rather be told im useless than go out there and make an arse of my self and put my team members at risk. Everyone has to start somewhere, usually at the bottom!
Like with all industries you are bound to get the few who think they are better than everyone else, and no one else will ever come close to being as good as them. It happens everywhere. You have to prove yourself in this industry for obvious reasons and there is a lot of competition out there. |

Having sat the exam I found it laughable!! I am not happy at the fact i was made to do a refresher which was not necessary. Any body who has passed the Rmp course would pass the exam without the need for refresher training. I am going to address the sia with regard to this matter and i will update as and when.
As for needing to see the questions here are the answers to each and every one; COMMON SENSE!!! |

smile with kyle gets it spot on. I couldnt believe some of the questions on the paper. To be honest I think anyone with some intelligence, experience or not, would pass it. Going for the exam? take it easy, dont panic, a little reading up and no problem.
Question though: I hear the exam board or sia in general are made up of non security experienced personnel. True? |

as highlighted by some of the guys, the questions , in particular the written ones are written by non CPo personel (personal opinion) and are a little vague as to what they are asking, but we are surposed to be big boys in a cp world ,i think we can work it out for ourselves,or else whats the point

from my experience about 70% of students after passing a CP course regardless of previous background are unsuitable to the work.
before i hear screems i have reasons they are doing the course for the wrong reasons, glamour, kudos, empress the ladies, they are big and tough with lots of coloured belts,or have a black balaclava fefish real or imagined. i have worked with cpo's who on paper are great but on the "job"let themselves down especially after a few beers when any character flaws show up (a fast way to get to know someone) sorry but that puts a question mark over them all CP courses provide similar training these days and of course some are better thought of than others, but again ,in my experience its that persons aptitude and attitude to the work and the industry ,and the experience they gain working and from others in the industry which makes the difference between a good operator or not. just my thoughts |

There are far too many licenced bods that dont deserve it as they are not up to the required standard if its worth having it should be worht getting.
Far too many people have blufffed their way into the industry and when they get into work they do not know what they are doing. Any one helping candidates should be disallowed to train any one cheating should not allowed to be re examined and not allowed to have a lisence. |
