I am new to this site so i'm going to start with the fiRst things on my mind. It took me a long time to decide this career because i wanted to make sure that it was exactly what i wanted. I want to do well in this career and feel i just need a break or a good RST to work with, who are willing to show a new boy the ropes. I realise that alot of jobs are taken up by CPO's that have been in the forces and have alot of contacts that way. I on the other hand have not been in the forces and so have little contact with cp world at this time. I am wiling to do almost anything to break into this career and would like some healthy advice on how to do so safely. J

If your not already trained up or sia qualified i suggest you start with a decent course. Nemesis Group is one i reccomend. Very much aimed at commercial market do your SIA exam get license then its all about networking and getting your CV out.

I have completed my course and have had my badge for a couple of months now but other than a few doorman i know saying they'll put me in touch with someone i'v had know progress in finding work. Every job vacancy i look at wants experianced operatives which i can understand but everybody needs to start some where. I'm not going into this with my eyes closed, i realise i'll have to start at the bottom and work my way up which is why i'm in this for the long haul. Good advice needed. J

Getting back to the original point of this thread. How can anyone be happy with themselves if they havnt passed a course on anything, let alone CP on purely their own merits?!!

This really gets my goat..!! PRIDE people please!!! INTEGRITY!!!

people asking for a heads up on something as simple as a multiple choice exam that can be resat relly annoys me. everyone here is more than willing to help out where they can in anyway they can but there has to be a line, trust me the exam isnt difficult (no where near difficult enough in my eyes) people get through there courses on their own merit as said in the previous post! pherhaps this is the only fair part of the industry as after your course its dog eat dog and largely a case of who not what u know! so at least have the strength of charicter tp do this much on ur own
rant over
lol
any other legit questions or advice sought dont hesitate to ask

have recently been on CP course, up in the north east, nobody will have heard of the training provider, but the 2 instructors had 18 and 12 yrs experience in cp work, with 1 of them being ex army and well known in cp circles.course was a pass/fail, with the instructors doing apprasals. the exam was the city/guilds computerised one with 60 questions in 90 minutes and you got an instant result.if you took your time to read how the questions were worded, you should have no trouble in passing exam.

What,s going on with CPO'S... where's your professionlism you sould be above the rest and do things by your own merit. I see alot of good CPO'S and alot of real bad, may be this is the reason why people whom cheat on course lowers the standers.

I've always enjoyed being a DS and hope to eventually do a CPO course but I've never done the job for glamour or money and I have had some really good wages over the years, I do it because I love my job.

I was on leave and i was approched by a guy i know from civi street, he asked me if i can recommend a good CP training company for his friend that has left the Army, I give him a well recogonized one. A few months later i find out it was for him self. Hes only been a Karate instructor and done some door work, hes taken drugs been off the rail and proven to be a liar. He's out there looking for work pulling the wool over interviewers eyes.
The point im trying to make is in this industry you must be and have..
Honesty Loyalty Integrity and Trust.
when i see him agian i will be having a word.
