does size matter..?

hi there does anyone find that their body size.. physique hinders their job prospects??? are clients still looking for big cp's...??

My lack of size has never hindered me, I'm five feet tall and weigh 7 stone. People tend to look at me and think I must be able to look after myself because of how small I am. I use it as a positive and I can move faster than a bigger person. It's the element of surprise that a small person has, some people don't connect me to a security team because I don't have 'that look', that's the real positive.

Personally myself I don't think size does matter, but I am not in CP work yet I am a door supervisor. It may be different for CP. Don't get me wrong I am considered a big guy but I personally don't think it matters, I watch out for the smaller ones more than the big ones e.g my mate has loads of different martial arts licenses alot of people look at him and would critiscise his size because he is only 5'0'' tall and only weighs about 10st. Don't judge a book by it's cover oh and don't expect all big guys to be slow

I work with a couple of big guys and I've seen them move very quickly when needed.

Truth, but I've seen a very experienced CP, 5ft tall skinny put down 5 good size guys with police and military background. I was one of those who got hurt

The only time size might matter is if the principal wants a status symbol & not a CPO,

Point in fact look a Britney Spiers BG 6'7 & about 28 stone, very discreet indeed!!!!!

It's not the size, it's the skill set that decides between a bullet catcher and a CPO.

I'm only 5ft 4 and 6.5 stones and i get work, but I suppose it's an idividual choice by client at the end of the day. As James has pointed out Britney and others like s=to be seen with someone 6ft odd but in my opinion a minder and a BG are quite diffrent things. And many so called A list celebs like to be seen with the biggest and baddest cpo (minder in my opinion again).

Some people may only feel safe with some guy that can fill a doorframe and more but as Barbaranne says being small and doing this line of work, the people that i guess actually think about it realistically, would know that a 'little girl' as i have been called, that decides to take on this work at our sizes must know something or we wouldn;t be doing it..... that said that takes a bit of brains to work out and how many of the so called celebrities in the world today use what little brain power that they have????

can realy depend on many things, in the end your client will decide if he likes ,wants a and trusts you . some CP roles require a low profile, protective surviellance, many businses clients dont want a big person to scare away the people they work and do business with or need a woman to protect a female to blend in ,however some roles, such as crowd control may require a large menacing looking guy, others may require high risk weapons trained, in the end of the day of if you have had the right trainging and experience this is what will realy count.

i know i've missed out on work as a result of my size.. i'm average build, and yes it does seem to be about the clients.. just something thats interested me for a while now..

The point is that at the end of the day it is ALL about clients, and nobody is going to be perfect for every job really anyway. I guess it's just easier to accept that like everything in life there is always a perfect partner for you in the scheme of things even in work, and nobody in the worl fits everyones bill even angelina and brad.
