hi guys, Im new here to this site, but ive noticed a few requested from companies whos websites either may or may not exist or are difficult to access, just out of personal safety, I would recommend NEVER adding your home address on your CV/Resume until your potential employer is 100% varified, just reminded me of the old story " ...bogus security company requests CVs of former soldiers, this was set up by the IRA during the late 80s..." We are all in a business to protect our clients the best we can, but this includes protecting ourselves and our familes too, all the best

Agreed. There is no requirement or need to enter your address on your CV. Your name and a contact number is all that is needed to suffice. If your CV contains information that could target you from undesirables then it is better to have a mobile number that is not a contract sim. I have managed to obtain the services in the past where all I needed was a contract sim mobile number. From this, I could obtain the full mobile phone bill which includes the address of the payee. If the payment is conducted automatically via BACS transfer then from that we can gain bank account numbers, statements, mortgage details etc etc. All from one number.
Personal security is an issue in these current climes. If you are incapable of it then you surely not capable of looking after another persons life. Rich H |

Hello,
There have been several previous warnings to members on this site with regards to posting personal details on the forum, as well as it has been pointed out putting too many personal details on CV's. Is it or is it not the security industry that us as members on this forum are part of? Experienced operators, members who represent companies, or those that are just starting out and asking for advice, from all security backgrounds. Including ex mil, current serving etc... Personal security and safety is one of the first things you are taught, its repeatedly drummed in. So why are so many risks being taken by some security operators, it is beyond belief. So please, do not post personal details or documents containing them when posting on this site. It is for your safety and that of your family, and in some cases colleagues! PERSEC & OPSEC This is a public site, the public have access to it, thats means anyone who has access to the INTERNET! You wouldn't go and post your bank details or other personal details on myspace or FaceBook for everyone to see would you???? |

Security starts, at home. I did a reply a few weeks ago about this on one of the "send your CV" needs checks and pre-checks............... this and other forms of media are too easy to build a social network, with "presumed trust".....

Quite right gents. It seems the extent of social engineering required to win the trust of many a CPO these days is complete at "Yeah, I can get you work mate, send us your CV".
Persec is mentioned on all too few courses. |
