Need advice on getting a job in iraq

Hi Guys

I am fairly new to this site and I need any advice I can get.


I am 24 years old from toronto ,I just finished my college course in police foundations and I want to get into this industry.

I have no military experience and I have not taken any CP courses.

What would be my best course of action to get work in hostile places like Iraq with my qualifications.

Would I be able to achieve this by taking some CP courses? If so what kind?

Any advice you guy could give me would be greatly appriciated.

Well after the long discussion we had in the chat room, with two other members who are experienced operators, you are still asking the same question. You did not listen to us but here is the same reply ???

All three of us advised you to get a trade, go back to your home country and join the military if you want to get out to the sand pit, and get some life experience then if you are still interested then do a CP course and start to learn all over again.

Oh and start listening...

Not being funny mate, but so far youve had the same answer put to you in quite a constructive and plesent tone. Im afraid that if you continue not to listen to this sound advice then you will probably start to get on people's nerves and may find yourself getting replys from operators who have lost good friends due the incompetance and skill set of individuals deployed that simply had very little if none experience like yourself.
Do yourself and favour and get the life skills discussed and join the military before thinking of putting yourself in a situation were you will be a danger to others and yourself.

I understand that you have already been given sound advice by some of the others here, I am sorry to say that I agree with them .... your chances sit somewhere in the region of slim to none without ,

Previous Hostile environment experience
military or police experience
relevant instruction
verifiable working/operational experience

This list is by no means exhaustive and it is not a selection of the above you need but all of them.
Iraq and Afghan are roles that are for the most experienced personnel, not a newcomer with no background and experience/training..... when you completed your policing studies.... did you expect to enter the service as a chief of police???

I am sorry if this appears to be in any way nasty.... it isnt meant to be mate , I applaud that you appear keen to get a start , but I am concerned that you do not demonstrate a grip of the reality of operating in Iraq etc.....my advice would be to look at iCasualties: Iraq Coalition Casualty Count ,
Go to the list of contractors located in the other deaths drop bar.... and reconsider

Go and wash behind your ears son read the forums and do what the big boys do- research.

or even better join the military and earn your spurs in the depths of Afghanistan like the 4 Brigades before you. Find the bond of battle to stiffen your backbone and then come out in public and say ' I am a brother of the brave and have been forged under fire, I can through the training and experience I have sought and received protect you'.

Until then finish your homework and wash behind your ears. Life owes you nothing .

Not been fuuny but if you cant listen to advice sat at home in your bedroom just passing the time of day what makes you even think you listen to the lads when the s**t hits the fan. Go back to college!!!!! Maybe work in a call centre!!

Theres some good advice in the threads and you'll have to read through them and take notes.

There is also good advice within this thread; blunt agreed but very true and a real eye opener for you maybe?
