haha suppose once some one becomes paronoid enough for that service they will keep coming back. Is it a growing trade ? I should imagine in the next few years there will be a large demand for couter measures from IED's and remote det stuff

Welll I was there recently and to be honest you can only counter it so much, like all technology it has its limitations and use by date so to speak. I did get to see a couple of IED/EMP incidents

A few guys i know who have been/are still there say that it is, pretty f ing hard to counter them, especially when they are coming up witht new and improved designs everyday.

Yeah they seem to have the IRA book of IED's and learnt them a hell of a lot quicker too.
Theses guys have them planted for months just sat there incase they must have massive syocks of the stuff spread all over the country. They have developed some really hard to detect infa red ones lately they are near enough undetectable Barstools!!!!!!

The other one they will probably do is they will use the Laser explosives detector to actually detonate an Ied using lazer receptors. There was a concern mentioned about that in a post from Mally a few days ago.

Yeah that is similar to the one the IRA started to use with the camera flasher units and recievers, very clever stuff really but deadly.
Its only hearsay but I am informed that alot of the wiring systems etc are near identical to the IRA's sorry ex IRA's. They have started to cam these systems very well, normally as rocks etc totaly unspottable on a moving convoy.
This would probably make a good thread "IED" thread there must be some individuals with a hell of a lot of experience on here.

There's all kinds of techie Ied detection systems coming out, one is a neutron interrogation IED detection system, also thermal IR countermine and IED Detector. I have attached aPDF for What U.S forces where being taught in country about IEDs, not technical but theory surrounding survival. Interesting reading though
