I really want to work in afghan or iraq in cp/security but i cant find any companies willing to take people that havent served in hostile countries before. i Have done a couple of weapons courses with the ASAA but even that doesnt seem to help. If anyones got any advice or knows of any companies that might take newbies please let me know.

Many thanks, Rufuss.

I know, im pretty sure i have tried the main companies but wondered if there might be any smaller ones looking for a mug willing to do it on the cheap to gain the experience needed for future jobs.

Unfortunately buddy, there's a lot of military guys now leaving to do HE, so as with the UK the situations becoming saturated. I myself had trouble getting work in HE even with a couple of tours of Iraq and Afghan under my belt. As Mts said, you'll probably stand better chance of work closer to home. Don't mean to insult your intelligence, but be carefull of "working on the cheap, for experience", because the experience you have could be very bad.

I have to say that its thrue more ex military guys is going in to the hot spots.
anyway I have found more jobs this year then ever before, I do have military training but I doubt they even had a alook at that..
Its other things in your CV and have good references..
Convoy security, Psd, and static 3-4 companies..

Train, train, train YES..
However you also need to get some jobs done..
And not just at home working in the doors and shopping mals.

When they see that you have the right training, and age..
Alot of guys is 20 yrears old or 25 and the majority is looking for expereinced guys with 5-10 or 15 years experience.

So if you dont have the age, now..be prepaired for the time by taken on verious jobs in the security and do train.

A good written CV is also a good deal.
I know since Iam Swedish and I have police training, authorised Close Protection, advance first aid, etc..but I had alot of problems in finding jobs since Iraq and the coalition forces dont use country nationals that dont support the coalition forces.
If was very hard getting in, but there is companies that dont care about your nationality they look at your CV, and talk with references you might have
When they see you have 10-15 years experience and maybe even from the region applying in its easyer getting in.

Ofcourse we have to start somewhere, but to work with security in Dubai, or Africa or other countries specielly thouse that its hard to live in..

A recruiter told me once, alot of guys write this and that and then they apply for the sandbox..bad food, accomodation, no water and sickness..they are not used to the situation. A helpworker in Africa with 6months experience in food convoys (no weapons or direct security) tells the recruiter he can copy under stressfull environments..

Im not saying rush off to do help work, but remote medic in Northern Norway, oilrig security in BlackSea, factory security in Kosovo, etc..
Gives something else on the CV, and also prepair the individual mentaly and otherwise about the work.

Just some points.
Also to train in countries that is standing out.

Im not just focused on CP or psd or convoy work, a instructor job in thailand, or a hotelguard, security manager..anything is of interest as long its decent work.

Good luck all
hawk
