Lets get one thing strait here guys! Aston are not a training company, End of!

All they do is advertise courses run by other training companys so if the courses are good then its down to the companys they are using and not Aston!

Again if Aston are a training company then who are there awarding body?

Hi RBENIEST Good debate!!

It says OXO on the side of a bus but you cant buy one on there !! lol

I have got all my certs And a job so I'm a happy chappy !!

When i went to Bridgend i meet the one instructor and a funny thing was i worked with him in the PIT (good bloke)The other one was from the same regiment as myself but served there after i had left, still he had been to the PIT and a few other places.

Now I'm earning the coin I am thinking of doing a CP course, altho i have 18 months as a CP TL in the PIT i think i will have to get on the sia treadmill with the rest of the lads..........Where did you do yours mate ? what do you think is the best value for money ?? your thoughts would be apprecaited..........

Hi kiltman,

Just wanted to see you reaction, from your previous post to now, that's all.

Yes i agree with you looking around to get the best for your money, but that also does point to the fact that you are not 100% happy to go and to the course with Aston.

So the question still stands as to how good are they at providing the right company to carry out the instruction!

It was not a dig at you mate, just trying to grasp what Aston are about, there web site is very vague, not real details of what they are about, very generic. And to be fair the word on the street is more towards the avoid them, than they are a ok company.

All the best and i hope you get value for money, Moorigans as just done a course that was good value for money (£1,200 if memory serves me right) it might be worht you sending him a PM and see if theres another one.

All the best.

If you have done a recognised HE course for when you were in the pit, you might be able to just do the three day refresher, don't quote me on that.

Also if you have a FAAW certificate, you will not need to do it again. Best thing is for you to contact the training providers and see what you need to do the full course or just the refresher follow by the sia exam.

If you are looking at a course based in UK, there are plenty of companies - Longmoor Group (highly regarded), Ronin Concepts UK, Olympus, PBA, CTR, Task and many more.

I have done several courses, a few years back so i'm a bit out of touch with what course is the best regarded at present. But as you now there are many views on what course is the best.

Best thing is for you to look around and see what you want out of it, what money you want to spend and finaly what suits you.

hope it helps you mate.
