Those who have read "The Gift Of Fear" will be happy to learn that Gavin De Becker and two of his associates, Jeff Marquart and Thomas Taylor, will be releasing a new book shortly, "Just 2 Seconds; Using Time and Space to Defeat Assassins".
I have read an advance copy of the book. It is a masterful work, there's no question about it! In fact, it is the best book I've ever read about security and Close Protection. Every serious protector, every security instructor and every protectee should read this book. Ever since I read "The Gift of Fear" I had been looking forward to the next book written by Gavin De Becker. I never thought that the next book would be so exactly what I expected. I've been training security personnel for a few years. After I read "The Gift of Fear", just two years ago, I put together a two-day seminar on safety and defense for people doing business abroad. The seminar was initially based on experiences and incidents I had gone through during my former career as an international engineering consultant. After I read "The Gift of Fear, I included several concepts from the book in the seminar curriculum. And I always told the students to go and buy the book as soon as they could. Now that I've read "Just Two Seconds", I'm thinking about making it mandatory for bodyguard and security personnel students attending my classes. The book includes an impressive compendium with more than 1400 attacks against at-risk people and several very useful appendixes. "Just 2 Seconds" will certainly become a reference for serious protectors. I happened across this site and saw Just 2 Seconds being discussed. Please give the new book by Mr. de Becker a look as it contains a wealth of information gathered over years of experience in the industry.
The concepts proposed in the first section are logical and insightful and the included resource of public figure attacks should be on everyone's shelf at home who works in this field. |
