A company has this weekend been caught with its staff having fake sia badges this is a warning to all when using subcontractors.

1/Make sure you take the badge out of the yellow arm band and ensure it aint a photo copy

2/Check on the sia website as the badge may have been suspended

3/Check the badge against there other id

Be warned guys for the sake of your own badge

antislandsland is on a distinguished road
Marcus,

Extremely good advice for the un-initiated but again due to the rules and regulations concerning the use of sub-contracted staff then partial blame rests on the shoulders of the employing company and it is them eligable for the fine also. There are strict guidelines in place for using sub-contractors and they have been in place for some time now. Check with the sia as to what you can and cannot do prior to employing outside staff and this will save even more trouble for people in the future if you are not sure of the procedures? "Oh! It'll be O.K." just doesn't cut it anymore.
Regards,
A.I.

If its the one I think it is they were caught when their badges were checked on arrival. I have worked events where my badge was never checked, but there's only so much you can do.
You can check names in advance with the sia but you would then have to check their badges match their own ID when they turn up. If people have backed out at the last minute and you don't have time to check new names until they turn up then you have to rely on the bit of plastic you're presented with. At festivals and some other events you're not going to have internet access. Also you might have hundreds of people to check through, along with sorting out uniforms, who goes where etc.
Also if people are only caught when they turn up then you're going to be short of staff. Festivals don't give any margins, you don't have spare staff, so it means upping some people to 18 hour shifts to make up the shortfall.
